All in all I prefer Gaia Project over Terra Mystica, but both games are awesome and I would recommend you trying it out. You might want to start Gaia forming some planets as well! It also bring new races that play differently then the original game. If you want to go deeper into the science tract you can need more science levels to get more science points. If you need additionnal income that your race is lacking, there's a tract for that. With it you can adapt and play different games depending on who you are up against. The science tract in Gaia Project is a completely different creature. It was also a minor way to get resources in rounds if you placed yourself correctly in the tracts for that round. In the original game, the cult tract was a pretty boring system, acting as a sort of race track that would gives the points to the player in lead. It can seem that way if you haven't tried it but its a complete overhaul of how the cult tract works and a lot of refining of the core design.
